For more than 15 years, the zdi community NRW has been inspiring children and young people with its offers for topics in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT). Klaus Kaiser, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, has now awarded the zdi networks the zdi seal of quality 2022 for their valuable work.
Be it online escape rooms or programming clubs for girls, workshops on wind energy or robotics projects: "Future through Innovation.NRW" (zdi.NRW) offers young people very different opportunities to immerse themselves in the MINT world. In particular, the linking of MINT knowledge with other disciplines such as art, cultural or social sciences is established in many offers. Because: MINT is everywhere. And with MINT, the world can be explained and shaped.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the zdi networks, together with the zdi student laboratories, enabled over 100.000 young people to gain practical experience in the STEM disciplines in on-site or online courses last year. Last but not least, the zdi quality seal 2022 was awarded for this.
The past two years have been particularly challenging for extracurricular MINT support. Nevertheless, the zdi networks have succeeded in creating practical and high-quality offers so that children and young people can try out the MINT subjects without any pressure to perform. By awarding the zdi seal of quality 2022, we recognize the extraordinary achievements of the zdi networks.

zdi stands for quality, community and commitment to young people
Every year, the MKW awards the zdi networks with the seal of quality that meet the agreed criteria for high-quality MINT offers in NRW. With the award, the employees of the zdi networks have access to further training, can exchange ideas with other MINT activists at zdi events and use networking offers throughout NRW. They also have the opportunity via their own zdi community platform to market and manage their offers, build digital communities around STEM and distribute badges and STEM CVs.
